Category: Accessible Games
Hi all!
I want to get more in to accessible games. However, I'm such a newbie..it's pretty overwhelming. Can I have some help please?
I really don't know anything about muds..i've heard of miriani but dunno anything. I've downloaded super egg hunt..it's fun! I haven't paid for anything..can't really aford much.
Any help would be great!
I've tried jim kitchen's games but for some reason they just won't work on my pc.
Thank you so much!
what about rs games or the playroom?
they are both clients you download and allow you to play games such as monopoly, uno, battleship, etc. they are both free and they both have sounds. you can play against other online people, or you can play against bots (which simply means playing against the computer)
their's legend of the green dragon, not really that exciting.. but maybe a good starting point. it's a simple online game where you hunt and kill creatures in the forest, duel others if you want too, and eventually kill the green dragon. you can get armour and weapons- and even mounts, and they get better with time. i've seen a harry potter one which is very awsome.
their's the kingdom of loathing, which is a game where you live in the kingdom and the councel of loathing set you tasks on each level. again it's free and brouzer based, good if you want something diffrent and not just the same thing level after level.
their is alter ego, a game where you play through your life and at the end of each module it gives you a progress report- and i've played that a few times.. and it's scarry how acurate it was for me.
so their's a few suggestions... hope they help
Can you tell me more about alter ego? that sounds really interesting! I just have a lot more down time than I used to now that I'm done with school.
Thanks so much! Feel free to pm me if needed!
okay.
alter ego is a game in which you play through the diffrent stages of life.
so you start off as a real young baby, and progress in to someone really old
in each of the modules, the game gives you senarios based on where you are in your life... so if you are in the first module, baby, the sinarios are very simple... for example, you mother comes in holding a bottle of warm milk- what do you do?
the idea is, that you play it how you would do it- it's your life, so you anser the sinarios how you would go about it
their is also the chance to get money to go to colledge and get a job, get a partner, marry, live in a house, etc.
at the end of each section, it gives you a report about how your life is progressing, and what the choices you made might mean for you in the future- it's very interesting!
each module has various sections... so physical, emotional, social, family, etc. you simply play the sections you want- so if you want to do 5 emotional and 1 physical, go for it.. but my advice is to do a fair bit in all the sections
the game will move you on by itself, but if you feel you are ready to on your own you can press age, and it will move you up a level.
i've not got to the end myself, i usually end up dying about 20.
if you want to play for yourself, go to:
www.playalterego.com
Marriani is a online game wear you live your life as a pilot doing what you can to make a living, debree salvaging, asteroid hauling, protecting local space from creatures "alions" or in this case praelor. you can also take up ship stieling to make a living as well. Its your life, what you make of it will be any ones guess. Also you can do Archeology or go out of local space to find artifacts as well in ships you buy and upgrade to pre-pare for a long journey.
RS Games and the Playroom sound cool. I think I'll give them a try. I'm assuming since you're recommending them that they don't have any malware, etc???
oh no, not at all. they are great fun. both of them
and starfly, i was thinking about posting about miriani and such but wasn't sure because she's new to games. but we'll see.
is alter ego free? I'm assuming it's accessible with jaws as a screen reader..it sounds fun!
As for mirani..(sp?) I think I'll wait on that..just for now.
RS games I've heard of..are the download dirrections pretty simple? as well as getting in to the games?
Yes, RSgames are very easy. I just got started with them today and am addicted. lol
Basically, go to rsgames.org and click the link that says download client for whichever operating system you use, windows, mac, etc.
Then install it like any other installation.
So far, I've only played Uno and Monopoly. They're pretty straight forward and very easy to use. The site has help files with quick keys, rules, etc that I would recommend dowwnloading. That's what I need to do.
yes alter ego is totally free and very accessible.
message me if you need help
Thank you so much! very cool! :)
Wow Dan, I totally forgot about Alter Ego. I played it once, but that was a long time ago. I may have to check it out again. Thanks for the reminder.
I played Miriani for awhile, and enjoyed it while I did, but got tired of it eventually.
I really like rs games. I have been playing them alot lately. I might have to check out alter ego.
I like RS games allot.
I'm preppinmomma on there if anyone ever wants to play.
Miriani is a little more intense. I would get more experienced with games before you got into it. It's a lot of fun though. RS games and play room are so simple because they are mostly list based. There are not that many commands. I would also look into game books, www.audiogames.net has some to reccomend. It also has a list of like, every audio game so you can look into them and follow your interests.
Thank you so much! I can say now that I've played alter ego and it's fun! :) You never know what screen (rather it's the emotional, social, physical..etc..) will show! Pretty cool!
